Starches (Saltines) + Saliva = Sugars

In our study of the human body, students completed a lab to show how a
carbohydrate (a starch in the form of a saltine cracker) would be
broken down into a sugar (glucose) in the presence of the digestive juices in saliva.
We detected the presence of sugars using Benedict's solution.
A pretty disgusting lab involving a large amount of spit collection !
